About
Small community-based nonprofit organizations provide essential services in towns and cities all around Arkansas. They run after-school programs and domestic violence shelters. They help seniors prepare taxes and train the unemployed for new jobs. They build affordable housing and mentor young people. Across the state, small nonprofits are often the lifeblood of their communities, providing help and resources to residents.
Experience has shown that many community-based nonprofits operate at the edge of existence, even when they have provided essential programs over a long period of time. With limited staff and inadequate resources to hire those with the appropriate skills, it can be extremely difficult for these organizations to conduct the administrative tasks so critical to their sustainability. Training and capacity building exercises are not the solutions to these problems when organizations cannot afford to hire staff with skills needed for these jobs. The social good these nonprofits provide to their communities is jeopardized when they do not have the time or staff to do these administrative functions well.
Arkansas Nonprofit Services was formed by Arkansans who understand the difficulties small nonprofits face. To support the missions of nonprofits across the state, Arkansas Nonprofit Services offers bookkeeping and financial management, website and newsletter development, grants management and donor development. These services are provided at a reasonable cost based on the needs and resources of each group. Through Arkansas Nonprofit Services, participating groups will have access to professional services designed to increase their long-term sustainability.
